The Chalet

From Geneva

Free parking

A traditional wooden chalet in Troistorrents, with the Dents du Midi rising right behind it. There are four bookable bedrooms, plus a fifth where Agostina stays for the week, so there's always someone around who knows the area. This trip lands in mid-October, so the hills around the chalet should be well into their autumn colours by then.

4 bedrooms
3.5 bathrooms
Dedicated workspace

The Workspace

Shared tables
Desks for calls
Fast WiFi

The main table connects straight into the kitchen and seats up to 10 comfortably — it's the one table doing double duty for meals and coworking. If you want a change of scene, there's a smaller table in the living room, plus a desk in the upstairs living room for anyone who wants to work on their own. Most bedrooms also have their own desk, for whoever wants to shut the door and focus. WiFi is tested at 500 Mbps at the desks, so calls and uploads aren't a concern.

The Area

Troistorrents sits in the Val d'Illiez, a few minutes from Champéry, the valley's main village. The walking starts right at the door — an easy loop through the Gorges de la Vièze takes in the Pont du Diable, a stone bridge with a proper local legend attached, plus the suspension bridge to Chenarlier. We're running this one at the tail end of the foliage season, so expect the larches on the valley slopes to be turning as we walk it.

The valley sits right beneath the Dents du Midi, the jagged 3,257m peaks that dominate the skyline here. Cable cars from Champéry climb up towards Croix de Culet and beyond, with views over the glaciers and the Rhône valley from the top.

Meet your host

Agostina, founder of Wild Desk

"Argentinian by birth, Swiss by postcode. I love being outside and try to discover new places whenever I get the chance — I paint, cook, swim, and I'm the kind of person who'd strike up a conversation with a rock if given half the chance. At some point I also realised how easy it is to fall into a routine that starts feeling heavy. Going outside helped. Working around strangers helped too — it gave me space to get out of my own head and see things differently. Wild Desk grew out of that."
